FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High wrestling team had its first match Saturday, in more than a year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Saturday’s matches were the first in 21 months for the Flyers.

There was no season in 2020-21, and the start of the 2021-22 season was delayed due to COVID-19 too.

But yesterday, the Flyers got back to the mat in their season opener and came away with two victories, and a loss to wrestling powerhouse Haverhill 45 to 35.

Three wrestlers went undefeated on Saturday. They were Marcus O’Brien, Jayden Fuentes and Thomas Theodorakos.

And a half dozen Flyers earned their first-ever varsity wins yesterday. They were Jayden Fuentes, Thomas Theodorakos, Charlie Cosgrove, John Noguiera, Mike Hidalgo and Alexi Florian.
