MARLBOROUGH – Mario J. Chaves, 53, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on November 17, 2021, at his home.

Mario was born in Santa Maria Azores, Portugal, the son of Americo and the late Irodina (Figueiredo) Chaves.

Mario immigrated with his family to Hudson in 1974 at the age of five and graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Technical School in 1987.

Mario continued the trade of carpentry after graduation and held his Construction Supervisors License for over 20 years.

For 18 years Mario proudly served on the Imperio Mariense of Hudson committee, where he was passionately committed to ensuring that the Portuguese culture and traditions continued within the community (No soup for you!).

Mario was a member of both Marlborough and Hudson Fraternal Order of the Eagles, as well as the Marlborough Eagle Riders.

Mario enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, and spending time at home with his family and two dogs Harley and Daphne. He was a caring and generous person, helping others with home projects and loved family get-togethers. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mario is survived by his wife Jill McCloud of Marlborough, his two stepdaughters Biana A. Manifold of Worcester, Ravyn M. Hassan, and her husband Trey T. Hassan of Raleigh, NC; his granddaughter Zaniyah R. Zoidis, his brother Jose H. (Joe) Chaves and his wife Juvenalia Chaves of Hudson; Maria Isabel Carroll and her husband Dwayne Carroll of Palm Bay, Florida; nephews and godsons JJ Chaves and Anthony Carroll; nieces Caitlin Carroll and Dina Chaves; great nephew Mason Muller and many aunts, uncles, and cousins here and abroad. He also leaves behind his loving father, Americo and stepmother Beatriz Chaves. He is predeceased by his mother, Irodina.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Sunday November 21, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street in Hudson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday November 22, 2021, at 9 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson.

Celebration of Life to follow at the Hudson Eagles, 271 Cox St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in loving memory of Mario J. Chaves to Imperio Mariense of Hudson, 31 Old Bolton Rd, Hudson, MA 01749, or Marlborough Eagle Riders, 56 Florence St., Marlborough, MA 01752
