FRAMINGHAM – A Framingham elementary school principal is leaving the district after just three years.
Principal Purnima DeMorais at Harmony Grove Elementary School is leaving later this month.
It is unusual for a Principal to leave a school district in the middle of a school year.
SOURCE has learned that DeMorais is headed to the Merrimack Valley.
SOURCE was able to confirm she is headed to Tewksbury Public Schools after 2 p.m. today.
Tewksbury Superintendent Chris Malone announced DeMorais has signed a contract to take over as interim North Street School Principal.
She was hired in 2018 and started on July 1 that year.
DeMorias was an Assistant Principal at Norwood High before coming to Framingham.
Prior to that she was an Assistant Principal at Maynard High School in Maynard at the Arthur D. Healey (K-8) School in Somerville and at Newton South High.
Having begun her education career as a biology and physics teacher at Brookline High, she also taught biology at Brighton High.
Graduating from Boston University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as Boston University School of Education, she received her Master of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
DeMorias replaced Principal John Haidemenos, who was with then named Wilson Elementary School from 2013 to 2018. Haidemenos replaced Principal Robin Welch, who retired in 2013.
