FRAMINGHAM – Framingham firefighters quickly extinguished a small house fire on Moran Road yesterday, September 14. Moran Road is located in the Summer Street neighborhood.

Just after 5 p.m., Framingham received a call for a fire at 7 Moran Road.

Engine 2, Engine 5, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Car 2 and Ambulance 5 responded, said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

“On arrival found exterior fire going up side of the house,” said Chief Dutcher.

“Engine 2 stretched a handline to quickly extinguish.  Fire was contained to exterior of the home but generous amounts of smoke on the inside,” said the fire chief.

“Companies used thermal imaging cameras on the inside to confirm that the fire had not extended to the interior,” said Chief Dutcher.

There were no injuries to to firefighters or civilians, said Chief Dutcher.

Damage was estimated at $20,000 to 25,000.

Fire was ruled accidental, said Chief Dutcher.

The fire was “caused by workers using a torch to seal driveway cracks,” said Chief Dutcher. “The workers had attempted to put out fire using a garden hose.”
