NATICK – The Town of is advertising for a Director of Community & Economic Development.

The current director is leaving for a new job in Virginia, and starts in mid-Sepetmber.

The salary range for the full-time job is $120,000 to $130,000

The Director of Community & Economic Development is responsible for providing overall management, coordination, and enforcement of Town bylaws related to building and development.

The Director is also responsible for planning activities, including: collaborating with Town Administration and other Town Departments on strategies for economic development, housing, transportation, environmental issues, and other topics as may arise; overseeing staff engaged in the discretionary permitting and site plan review processes; research and preparation of reports and presentations for the Planning Board and other committees; assisting the general public and the development community regarding matters and concerns related to land use, development, and zoning; promptly responding to frequent inquiries; delivering clear and authoritative communication of policy and ordinance requirements to the public and the development community; and regular attendance at community meetings, events, and work sessions.  

The Director of Community & Economic Development must have a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or a related field and a minimum of 7 years in municipal planning with at least three 3 years at a supervisory level or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
