FRAMINGHAM – A Framingham Liquor store is changing ownership, and recently received approval for a license transfer from the Framingham License Commission. The transfer still needs approve from the ABCC, state’s alcohol commission.

Nancy Liquors, doing business as Waverly Wine & Spirits, sought a transfer of a package
store liquor license for from Bacon’s Wine & Spirits at 624 Waverly Street (Route 135) in Framingham.

Commission Laura Medrano made the motion at the meeting to approve the request, and the 4-member License Commission unanimously approved the request on July 26. The Commission is chaired by Tiel Wadland.

Waverly Wine & Spirits also requested to adjust its hours with the License Commission, and it was approved.

The retail store is currently open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 7 p.m. on Sundays.

The new hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

As for in-store workers, the slight change in hours will not affect their service. “Most of my clients work more than 8 hours a day. Many of them work at least 14 hours a day, so they’re used to that,” says Arthur Perlman, who was representing Nancy Liquors at the Commission meeting.

Gopi Patel of Billerica will be serving as manager of this business, and Sureshbhai Patel of Westwood will serve as assistant manager. Manager Patel plans to spend at least 48 hours per week at the business, said Perlman.

The attorney told the Commission both are familiar with the laws relative to alcohol sales and have worked with them before. He said they have already completed the required programs and have all required certifications.

He said the manager and the assistant manager will register with the Framingham Police Department to get their IDs soon.

While the Framingham License Commission approved the all-alcohol license and the hours for operation, the establishments must apply for food establishment and tobacco permits from the Framingham Board of Health, if they sell those products.

Nancy Liquors will be leasing space at 624 Waverly Street from Framingham-Waverly LLC out of Houston, Texas. It is a 2-year lease with three, 5-year options.

Nancy Liquors is purchasing the inventory from CBIII Enterprises, doing business as Bacon’s Wine & Spirits.

Bacon’s, which has only operated the store in the Coburnville section of the City for a couple of years, has other locations in Hudson and Northborough.
