FRAMINGHAM – There are 7,500 miles between Boston, Massachusetts and Pomerini, Tanzania. This spring, as we re-emerge into the world after a long year, The Africa Exchange Project is inviting the public to join our virtual move-a-thon fundraiser.

The goal is to raise $7,500, one dollar for every mile between Boston and Pomerini. It doesn’t matter how you move — walk, run, bike, swim or even crawl!  There is no fundraising minimum  — we encourage you to set your own goal.  Together we can reach the heart – and hearts – of Pomerini by May 31st.

If you’re training for a 5k, keep track of every run and ask your friends and family to contribute $1 for every mile you run. Or, better yet, challenge your friends and family to join you!   Need a reminder to step away from the screen every day
for a walk in the warming air? Commit yourself to 1 mile every afternoon and donate $1 for each day.  Want to contribute, but aren’t interested in participating in the move-a-thon? Make a donation and one of our participants will pick up the challenge.

Every dollar raised has a powerful impact:

  • $20 provides a school uniform
  • $100 buys a window on a school building to keep student dry in the rainy season
  • $250 equips a classroom with books
  • And $750 sends a young girl to school for a year, including room & board.

The move-a-thon fundraiser starts on Monday, April 12, and lasts through Monday, May 31.

It’s easy to participate – visit the move-a-thon page https://aep.dojiggy.io/registrationDoJiggy

You can register as an individual or a team.

Be sure to post pictures of your progress on www.facebook.com/AfricaExchangeProject  using the hashtag #milestopomerini.
