FRAMINGHAM – In May of 2020, as the City of Framingham was facing a budget crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, Framingham Public Schools Superintendent Bob Tremblay announced he and his central office staff would move out of the Perini Building and work from other schools or remotely to save the school district and the City of Framingham $1.5 million over three years.
The lease for the Perini Building was $500,000 a year. The current lease was ending on June 30, 2020, and proposed new 3-year lease was set at $500,000 a year.
“Responsible thing to do, but not a reasonable thing to do,” said Tremblay in May 2020.
Now almost a year later, Tremblay announced he and the central office staff will be moving into the former Farley school on Flagg Drive this summer, with the goal to be set up ready for the 2021-2022 school year.

The Framingham Public School administration will share the building with MassBay Community College, which will continue to lease a portion of the building, until its new building at Franklin Street and Mt. Wayte Road, on land former owned by Framingham State University, on Flagg Drive, is completed.
Also moving to the Farley Building is the Parent Information Center, which will be re-named to the Framingham Public Schools Welcome Center. The Parent information center is currently located at Fuller Middle School.

A new Fuller Middle School is expected to open in August between the current Fuller Middle and the Farley School on Flagg Drive.
Farley School was constructed in 1974, as one of three new middle schools. The other two were Barbieri and cameron.
The school is named after Lewis W. Farley, a long-time judge of Framingham District Court, who passed away in 1969.
