FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham hired a new senior planner.

In October, Shane O’Brien was hired by the Spicer administration. The City has not announced the hire.

O’Brien will be the third senior planner for the City of Framingham in the last 15 months.

In August 2019, after five years with Framingham senior planner Marianne Iarossi left the City for neighboring Natick, in a lateral move

When Iarossi left the City of Framingham, Planner Sam Scoppettone was promoted to senior planner in September 2019. And in July 2020 he left.

O’Brien comes from the City of Everett. He was the land use planner for that community of about 40,000 from December 2019 to October 2020.

Prior to that he was the staff planner for the City of Brockton from October 2015 to December 2019.

O’Brien graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in environmental design in 2013.
