NATICK – The Town of Natick began advertising for an Acting Town Administrator today, November 17.

SOURCE broke the news on November 3 that Town Administrator Melissa Malone will leave the Town of Natick at the end of this year. She was hired in 2018, and has salary around $190,000.

No salary was posted for the acting position, but the job posting did say posting may close as soon as December 1, 2020.

The Acting Town Administrator will not be considered for appointment to the permanent Town Administrator position, said the job posting.

“Town of Natick (population 36,000) is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and skilled leader with strong communication and collaborative skills to serve as its Acting Town Administrator. This is an interim position, commencing as soon as 12/29/20 and concluding with or soon after the appointment of the next Town Administrator,” noted the job posting.

The Acting Town Administrator will support and advise a five-member Select Board and manage day-to-day operations of the Town and Town departments under the purview of the Select Board and the Personnel Plan, consistent with duties and responsibilities identified by the Town Charter (Pgs. 19-22) found at: https://www.natickma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8052/Complete-charter-April-2019

“Duties will include ensuring a smooth transition from the previous administration to the next,” said the job posting.

“The successful candidate will have at least bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration or related field and at least five to 10 years of relevant municipal management experience, with demonstrated skills and abilities in managing a large staff, personnel administration, use of technology, an understanding of Massachusetts municipal law, labor relations experience, and skilled in intergovernmental relations and communications, both internal and external,” said the job posting.
