FRAMINGHAM m- Mayor Yvonne Spicer’s Community Hour on Tuesday, September 1 will be focused on continuing the conversation, proposed housing moratorium, according to a press release issued this afternoon, August 28.
Mayor Spicer will be joined by District 1 City Councilor Christine Long to continue discussing the proposed housing moratorium in Framingham. Attendees will be able to pose questions/comments during the hour via the chat function.
The City Council, including Long, vote 10-1 to impose a 9-month moratorium.
The Mayor vetoed that Council order on Monday, August 24.
The City Council is expected to take a vote to override the mayor’s veto in September. Eight votes, or 2/3rd the Council is needed to override the veto.
Councilor long posted on Saturday morning, August 29, in a Facebook group – “This conversation will in no way change my vote or mind about the necessity of a short term moratorium. I firmly believe the timing is right on this issue. I have spent endless months and hours since Fall of 2019 thinking about this issue and always come to the same conclusion as a long tine planner. Be assured I am listening to the large majority of voters who asked me to represent them over the last 2 decades and base my decision on facts.”
The public is invited to watcher the community hour on election day at 5 p.m.
