FRAMINGHAM – A Christa McAuliffe Charter School student organized and led a small gathering on a march from Butterworth Park to the Memorial Building today, June 20, to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I decided to organize this is because it felt wrong. I am a person of color. That could have been my father in that video, and if I were to be silent on this issue it would make me feel like I’m taking the side of the oppressors,” said the former Wilson Elementary School student, who will enter grade 8 in the fall.

“My hope is that I can see change and, at least if I’m able to change one more person’s mind set about this issue that’s a win in my book,” said Rodrigues.

About 30 people attended the event this afternoon. They marched from Butterworth Park to the Memorial Building as Rodrigues led the way.
