MARLBOROUGH – The City of Marlborough reported 16 new coronavirus cases due to COVID-19 today, May 12.

That is a 2.3% increase in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Marlborough now has a total of 683 positive cases since the pandemic began.

The City reported its 22nd death due to the virus or complications from the virus in Marlborough.

The good news is that 392 individuals have recovered from the virus.

It is unknown how many individuals have been tested in the city of almost 40,000 people.

For the second day in a row, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts reported less than 1,000 coronavirus cases.

Since the pandemic began, there have been almost 80,000 positive coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth. the exact number is 79,332.

The United States surpassed 80,000 deaths due to the virus today, May 12.

And there were just 33 reported COVID-19 today, May 12. That brings the total number of fatalities due to the coronavirus since the pandemic in Massachusetts to 5,141.

The good news is the 33 deaths within the last 24 hours is the lowest number reported by the state since March.

There is no cure and no vaccine for COVID-19, at this time.

Massachusetts ranks third in the United States behind New York, and New Jersey for the most positive cases.

The state tested 6,768 individuals in the last 24 hours

As of May 12 at 4 p.m., the state has tested 401,496 individuals.

The number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized was at 9% to start May. A good sign is the number has 4% for the last five days.

Another good sign, the number of individuals in ICUs in the state is under 850 for the first time for the last three days.

The Baker-Politio administration announced a 4-prong re-opening plan yesterday, May 11.

A full report on the plan is due on May 18. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has extended the order to keep non-essential businesses closed through May 18.

The United States has more than 1.358 million coronavirus cases as of 4 p.m. today, May 12.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting 80,820 deaths as of noon, May 12.

The U.S. is leading the world in COVID-19 deaths, with more than 26,500 deaths in New York.
