FRAMINGHAM – For the first time since the pandemic began, the City of Framingham is reporting more than 1,000 residents have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The City of Framingham is reporting 2 additional deaths due to COVID-19 or complications from the virus today, May 3.
This brings the total number of deaths since the pandemic began to 33 in the City of Framingham.
The City is reporting 16 deaths in the last 5 days.

In the last 24 hours, 42 more cases of the coronavirus was detected in the City of Framingham.
It is unknown how many individuals have been tested for the virus in Framingham.
The City said via its spokesperson it does not have “Framingham-specific information on how many of our residents are being tested. The state receive statewide information from all testing labs on the number of tests conducted each day. We, nor any individual community, receive community-specific information from any testing lab.”

“The Framingham Health Department reports that it continues to see a high number of cases resulting from household transmissions and in apartment settings, in addition to essential services workers,” said the City of Framingham in a press release.
“The Health Department continues to offer hotel stays for those who have
tested positive, but a majority have declined the offer,” said the City of Framingham.
Framingham has the most cases in MetroWest.

There are more than 70,000 residents in the City of Framingham. The 1,016 positive cases represents about 1.3% of the population.
In comparison, Ashland has a population of 16,500 and has 129 positive cases, or about 0.8 percent of the population has tested positive.
The City of Marlborough has a population of about 40,000 and there are 484 positive cases, or about 1.2 percent of the population.
For one more comparison, the City of Framingham has about the same number of coronavirus cases as the entire state of Maine. Maine is reporting 1,152 cases and 56 COVID-19 deaths.
The good news is that 274 individuals have recovered from the virus in Framingham.
Of the 1,016 cases, the City of Framingham said on Saturday that 236 cases were tied to long-care facilities and 65 were inmates at MCI Framingham.
