Marlborough Reports 4 More COVID-19 Fatalities; 3.6% Increase in Coronavirus Cases To Start May

MARLBOROUGH – The City of Marlborough is starting the month of May reporting four more fatalities due to COVID-19 or complications from the coronavirus.

With the four new deaths, the City of Marlborough is reporting 14 fatalities since the pandemic began.

The City reported 17 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

That is a 3.64% increase in COVID-19 cases since yesterday.

Since the pandemic began, Marlborough has had 484 positive cases of the virus.

It is unknown how many Marlborough residents have been tested for the virus.

The good news is that 233 individuals in the City have recovered from the virus.

On the first day of May Massachusetts Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 2,106 positive cases in the last 24 hours.

This week, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker extended the order to keep non-essential businesses closed through May 18.

Since 2020, the state has had 64,311 confirmed positive cases of the coronavirus.

Since the pandemic began, the Commonwealth is now reporting 3,716 deaths.

The Commonwealth reported 154 new deaths in the last 24 hours.

(Editor’s Note: The state report does say the deaths it reports every 24 hours may not have happened in the last 24 hours.)

As of today at 4 p.m., the state has tested 289,636 individuals.

The state tested almost 14,000 individuals in the last 24 hours

Last week, the number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized was at 9%.

A good sign it has been at 6% for the last three days.

Another good sign, the number of individuals in ICUs in the state is under 1,000 for the first time in weeks.

Middlesex County has the most positive cases at 14,607.

In comparison Berkshire County has just 444 cases.

The United States now has the post confirmed cases worldwide 1.09 million cases as of 4 p.m. May 1.

Worldwide, there are more than 3.32 million confirmed cases.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting 62,406 deaths as of noon, May 1.

The U.S. is leading the world in COVID-19 deaths, with more than 18,000 deaths in New York.
