FRAMINGHAM – In response to the letter, “Framingham Teachers Deserve More Than a 0.75% Raise or 3.75% Over 3 Years”, Christine Mulroney of the FTA neglected to mention the precipitous 20+% drop in the MCAS scores during the pandemic.
She forgot to metion that while classes were online, and the school buildings were not in use, not a single school employee lost their job and were fully paid. Every assistant superintendent, director, principal, vice principal, teacher, substitute teacher, librarian, nurse, custodian, coach,
counselor, therapist, psychologist, cafeteria worker, bus driver, grounds keeper and school
crossing guard were fully paid. Meanwhile, in the private sector, untold millions lost their jobs temporarily or permanently.
Now the FTA wants to be rewarded for its failure. The FTA keeps telling us that the well being of the children is their main concern. The children did not do well on MCAS.

The FTA failed, which is OK, but asking for still more money for this level of mediocrity is insulting to the taxpayers of Framingham.
In 2020, over 120 school employees were paid over $100,000, including an increasing
number of elementary school teachers.
In my personal opinion, the salaries of unionized teachers and officials should be cut
by 20 percent. If they don’t like their salaries, I have good news. McDonald’s is
hiring.
In addition, the school administration is apparently requesting well over $120 million in
2024 for one or more new schools in the Capital Projects fund.
Meanwhile, we continue to lease Farley school to Mass Bay. A lease they have had for 25+ years.
