FRAMINGHAM – Sister Marie Ancilla McCarthy, CSJ, in her 69th year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, died Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Devoted daughter of the late John Joseph and Elizabeth S. (Conway) McCarthy, and beloved sister of the late Mary McAveeney, Alice Smith, Teresa McCarthy, Edward McCarthy, and John McCarthy (who died as a child). Sister Marie Ancilla is survived by her loving sister, Edwina Duggan, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her Sisters in the Congregation.
Formerly missioned as food service administrator at St. Mary Parish, W. Quincy; Fontbonne Convent, Milton; Sisters of St. Joseph Novitiate, Framingham; Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, Brighton; St. Agnes Parish, Arlington; and Sacred Heart Parish, Newton.
Sister Marie Ancilla also served at The Waushakum Montessori in Framingham; and for over 36 years served at Walnut Park Montessori in Newton as a teacher.
Visiting hours at Holy Family Chapel, Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, 631 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA, Friday, December 17, 2021, at 9:15 to 10 a.m.
Prayer Service at 10 a.m.. followed by the Funeral Mass and Prayers of Final Commendation at the Motherhouse at 10:15 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, 180 Pond Street, Natick. In accordance with COVID protocols masks are required.
