FRAMINGHAM – Avelino S. Cordeiro, a longtime resident of Framingham died Monday, December 13, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Lousa, Portugal the son of the late Augusto & Silvina Cordeiro, he was the beloved husband of the late Celeste A. (Fonseca) Cordeiro.

Avelino immigrated first to Brazil in 1964 and to the United States in 1967, settling in Framingham to raise his family. He worked for various construction companies, and ended his career with Murray Paving as a finisher.

His true love was farming, his garden, socializing with family and friends and enjoying a good glass of his homemade wine.

Avelino is survived by his children, Luis Cordeiro of Framingham, and Maria C. Bailote & her husband Francisco of Framingham. His loving grandchildren: Tessa Piantedosi & her husband Robert, Felicia Freeland & her husband Tyler, and Raquel Bailote. He cherished his great grandchildren: Isabela & Mila Piantedosi and Julian & Beckett Freeland. He is also survived by his younger siblings, Proficaçao, Antonio and Alice of Portugal and Abilio of Canada.

Family and friends will honor and remember Avelino’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home: 11 Lincoln Street, Framingham on Monday, December 20 from 4-7 p.m.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly St. Framingham on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Masks will be required at both.

Interment will be private and a gathering will not be held to maintain everyone’s safety during this difficult time.
