POLITICAL CORNER: Rep. Robinson Not Headed To Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

FRAMINGHAM – State Representative Maria Robinson, a Democrat from Framingham, was rumored to be among the frontrunners for a position on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, but on Thursday, September 9, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Willie L. Phillips, Jr. as a Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

FERC is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of natural gas, oil, electricity, and other energy projects, ensuring that consumers can access affordable, efficient, safe, reliable, and secure energy services.

Rep. Robinson is now on a short list to head the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity.

The Office of Electricity provides national leadership to ensure that the Nation’s energy delivery system is secure, resilient and reliable.

The Office of Energy works to develop new technologies to improve the infrastructure that brings electricity into our homes, offices, and factories, and the federal and state electricity policies and programs that shape electricity system planning and market operations.
