NATICK – Valerie I. Shealer of Natick passed away on July 21, 2021 of longterm chronic illness. 

Valerie, having a witty sense of humor lived a full life travelling the world. Her favorite place to visit was Aruba.

She began her professional career as a nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital and subsequently as an attorney after achieving her Juris Doctorate Law degree from the University of Maryland.

Valerie thrived in all that she did. Decades later she often reminisced with her dear friend Mary, about all of the kids they treated at Boston Children’s Hospital.

After a career in business and health law, Valerie retired as an AAG from the Dept. of Mental Health and Hygiene of the State of Maryland.  

Val always made sure family and friends went to the best medical facilities and were treated by the finest physicians.

Val was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt and was predeceased by her parents and beloved nephew John Irvine III.  She is survived by her sister Brenda I. Hendrick of Hopkinton, MA, and brother John Irvine Jr. and wife Brenda L. Irvine of Rowlett, TX.  She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Jess, Amanda, Mack, Sarah, Mikailah, Ryan & Sean along with 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews. Valerie is also survived by her former husband G. Daniel Shealer.  And lest we forget, Valerie also leaves behind her beloved kitty Lexi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Valerie’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday, July 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday morning in St. Linus Catholic Church, 119 Hartford Street in Natick.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 180 Pond Street in Natick.
