FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Board of License Commissioners voted unanimously last night, July 12, to approve the transfer of a liquor license to the newly-named Liquor World store.
The license is currently held by Fifth Ave Liquors and will be transferred to Harinom Corporation, doing business as Liquor World at the same location. Fifth Ave Liquors is located in the Stop & Shop plaza at Old Conn Path.
Amita Pachani, the proposed manager of the store, has six years’ experience operating liquor stores, and the assistant manager Dinesh Patel has experience managing three previous package stores in Massachusetts.
All four of Harinom Corporation’s shareholders have had experience operating stores, said attorney Ian Hedges.
Commissioner Tiel Wadland asked about the lease, as it was not clear if above the rent if the landlord also received a percentage of sales.
The only change to the current operations will be a change of hours, with the new hours being Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
There will not be any changes to the store’s inventory. To ensure that customers are ages 21 and over, an ID scanner will be at the store, said attorney Hedges.
The transfer of the license still needs state approval with the ABCC.
Commissioners Wadland, Sara Porter and Stu Pologe were present and voted 3-0. Commissioner Laura Medrano was not present. The 5-member Commission is short one member with the resignation of former Chair Adam Barnosky.
Mayor Yvonne Spicer named Wadland the new chair through June 2022, yesterday, July 12.
