Health Director: Framingham Will Go Red

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Health Director Sam Wong told the School Committee, Superintendent Bob Tremblay, and Mayor Yvonne Spicer tonight, that the City of Framingham will go from yellow to a red community again on Thursday.

Framingham had been a red community for 9 consecutive weeks, until the state changed the metrics.

Framingham became a yellow community on the first Friday in November.

Framingham started the month of November at 11 cases per day.

It increased to 15.6 cases per day on November 6 when it became a yellow community.

Last week, the City was at 23.1 cases per day last week.

On Monday, the City of Framingham is averaging more than 30 cases per day per 100,000 people over 14 days.

Wong said the City will go red under the state’s guidelines due to its positivity rate.

Dr. Wong said Framingham will be at 4.3 or 4.4% positivity.

Framingham was 3.24% positivity rate last week.

To be a red community, one must have a positivity rate of 4% or higher AND average more than 10 cases per day.
