Framingham COO To Interview For Dracut Town Manager Post March 21

DRACUT – Members of the Dracut Board of Selectmen will interview four finalists for the Dracut Town Manager post on Saturday, March 21.

Among the four finalists is Framingham current Chief Operating Officer Thatcher Kezer III, the former Mayor of Amesbury.

The other finalists are former Amesbury Mayor Kenneth Gray, Groton Town Manager Mark Haddad, and Southbridge Town Manager Ronald San Angelo.

Kezer was hired by Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer in March of 2018.

Kezer, a retired Massachusetts Air National Guard lieutenant colonel, is the mayor’s second-in-command.

Kezer served as Amesbury’s Mayor from 2006 until 2013, when he lost a re-election bid to Gray by three votes.

If Kezer leaves he will be the second major departure in the Mayor’s office in less than 6 months. Late last year, the Mayor’s senior advisor left to go work for the Kennedy for Senate campaign. She has not been replaced.

Kezer’s previously worked at the Edward J. Collins Jr. Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts. he came to Framingham from MassDevelopment, where he was a senior vice president.

The Lowell Sun newspaper reported that each candidate will be asked the same questions, and that each selectman will likely be able to ask each candidate two to three questions.

Former Town Manager Jim Duggan resigned in October 2019.

The interim Town Manager Ann Vandal, who previously served as Assistant Town Manager and Chief Financial Officer, applied for the permanent position but was not named one of the four finalists.

Edward J. Collins, Jr. Center for Public Management helped Dracut with the search for a new Town Manager.

The Dracut position pay in excess of $170,000 a year.

The Framingham COO position is listed as $131,475 to $151,697.
