FRAMINGHAM – Last week, it was hockey with COVID cases, and then a coach for Framingham Baseball tested positive forcing the quarantine of two high school-aged baseball teams in Framingham, and tonight Framingham United Soccer Club is dealing with a positive coronavirus case.
A Framingham United Soccer Club team player tested positive today, October 27, after participating in a game in Sunday with another Framingham United Soccer Club team.
“All players—at this time—that participated in the game are defined to have had close contact with a COVID-19 positive person and should follow the attached CDC guidelines and quarantine for 14 days,” wrote Framingham United Soccer Club President Bill Kobertz in an email to families.
The game involved girls at the high school level. (Note: Framingham High has no sports this fall season due to COVID.)
There will be “no games the next two weeks (10/31 and 11/7),” added Kobertz, in an email to families that were impacted.

“If your child is not remote learning, please contact their school to determine the proper steps you should take for them to attend school,” wrote Kobertz. “Per the COVID-19 reporting procedures, I have contacted both Mass Youth Soccer and the Framingham Department of Health for quarantine guidance as well as starting the contact tracing process. The Framingham Board of Health will be in contact with you soon.”
If you have other child(ren) playing for FUSC, you and they are considered tertiary contacts and do not have to quarantine as long as their sibling/your child shows no COVID-19 symptoms, said the soccer league.
Framingham Health Director Sam Wong said, as of Friday morning, “we have 5 known confirmed cases among Framingham residents linked to hockey activities, as part of a cluster associated with a facility outside of Framingham.”
Two Framingham baseball teams, and potentially parents and spectators who attended a baseball game, are under a 14-day quarantine after a coach tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend. The Framingham Board of Health has recommended that Giants and Cubs players “quarantine for 14 days due to their exposure to a confirmed case from the date of their last contact,” according to Framingham Baseball. The Board of Health is also recommending anyone at that baseball game get tested for COVID-19
