FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High boys lacrosse team defeated Newton South on a dreary Saturday afternoon at Phil Read Field.
The final score was 6-5.
Newton South got on the scoreboard first. After the first quarter Lions were up 2-1.
Newton South scored three goals in the second to take a 5-1 lead. Framingham got one in the net before the half to cut the lead to 5-2.
The second half was all Framingham as the Flyers scored four goals, and held the Lions scoreless.

“Flyers defense anchored by senior goalie Cam Soave and junior Mitch Goldberg were able to hold off the Lions with several defensive stands,” said head coach AJ Mulvey.
Framingham goals were scored by senior captain Brendan Treacy, junior Henry Goldberg, junior Brendan Peck, sophomore Alex Trierweiler, senior captain Bill Neiberger, and senior captain Justin Nichols.
Senior Shea Callahan won 10 out of the 12 face-offs, said Coach Mulvey.
Senior captain Soave has 12 saves in net for Framingham.

“The last two minutes were intense,” said Coach Mulvey. “Non-stop back and forth.”
Newton South Coach Matt Briggs strategy was spot on, said Coach Mulvey, who added Briggs is a Framingham South grad.
“Their zone definitely threw us off. South was disciplined and executed well. We made some adjustments at halftime and we able to squeak out the win,” said Mulvey.
