Michael T. Carney, 70, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Saturday May 24, 2025 after a period of declining health. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late William & Patricia (Sullivan) Carney.
Raised and educated in Framingham, Michael was a 1972 graduate of Framingham South High School. He enjoyed a lengthy career with Bernardi Auto Group in customer service. Michael could find humor in any situation and relished in telling stories – particularly of the glory days. He had a nickname for everyone he knew.
Michael was an avid golfer, voracious reader, and a Boston Bruins hockey fan to the core. He loved sailing, stargazing, and lively discussion. He was very patriotic and could debate anyone on history and politics – or anything else for that matter.
Above all else, Michael cherished his family. His grandchildren Amelia and Benjamin Sectish were the center of his universe. He was devoted to his son, Matthew of Bellingham, his daughters, Ryan of Ashland, and Kerrin Sectish & her husband Charles of Ashland and their mother Kimberley Fox Carney of Bellingham. Michael was also the beloved brother of William Jr. & his wife Yvonne of Plymouth, James & his partner Elizabeth Aires of FL, Ellen Powell & her husband Stephen of VA, and Patricia Harris & her husband Robert of VA and he was the fun-loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, William III, Elizabeth, Colleen Callen, Allison Drushella, Kelsey Zeise, Michael O’Hare, Boru O’Hare, Patrick Harris, Catherine Elwyn, and James Harris.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michael’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Monday, June 2nd from 4-7PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will be private.
