Joseph W. Waugh, 67, of Holliston, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late Grace (Gould) and Edward Waugh. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Teresa M. (Hayes) Waugh of Holliston.

Joe proudly served as a police officer for over 20 years for the town of Sherborn. He also served as a firefighter for the Holliston Fire Department and retired as the Captain of Engine 2. In his younger years, he enjoyed his time spent as a Holliston High School hockey coach and was the first vice president of Holliston Youth Football, helping bring Pop Warner to the town. Joe was the youngest park commissioner elected in Holliston when he was just 20 years old. He was an avid horseman and had his picture taken in the winner’s circle all over New England, including Saratoga and the old Foxboro Raceway. He cherished his time spent in York, Maine both as a boy and in his later years with his grandkids. Joe was always an altruist looking to help others while actively supporting the Holliston Food Pantry and was a member of the Holliston Lions Club. Most importantly, Joe was extremely proud of his family. His love for his family and their love for him was the central focus of his life. He was well known for his compassion, welcoming smile, and generosity.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by two children, Matthew Hayes Waugh and his wife, Jeannette; and Ashleigh Sheehan and her husband, Michael. He also leaves behind his sister, Cheryl Waugh-Dymek; as well as four grandchildren, Abigail, Joseph, Michael, and Daniel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. Interment will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Holliston Food Pantry, 73 Charles St. Holliston, MA 01746.
