Joan P. (Harris) Foynes, 91, a longtime resident of Framingham died at home Tuesday, February 20, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Daniel Harris & Marion (Foley) Barber, and the beloved wife of the late Warren James Foynes.

Joan was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Brighton High School. She went on to St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Brighton. In 1953 she married the love of her life Warren and together they settled in Brighton where they began their family.  As the family grew, they moved to Framingham.

While raising her 7 children, Joan did private nursing, and also worked at Bethany Healthcare Center, Newton Wellesley Hospital, and ended her career at St. Patrick’s Manor. Thanks to she and Warren’s creative schedules, the children never had to have a babysitter.

Joan loved to travel, but her primary focus was always her family.  She is survivied by her children, Maura F. Treacy (Kilian Weigand) of Winthrop, Eileen S. Foynes of Framingham, James Warren ‘Jimmy’ Foynes of Framingham, Regina M. McNamara (Daniel) of Ashland, Roger N. Foynes (Kymberlee) of Valley Center, California, Mark T. Foynes (Kathleen) of Douglas and Thomas R. Foynes of Elfin Forest, California; also survived by 26 grand and great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joan’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Monday, February 26th from 8:30-9:30AM. Her Funeral Mass will follow in St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham at 10 o’clock.  Interment will take place privately in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date.
