William W. Stebbins, Jr., 83, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late William & Maxine (Gray) Stebbins, and the beloved husband of Muriel (Terris) Stebbins.

Bill was raised and educated in East Rockaway, NY and was a 1958 graduate of Lynbrook High school. He went on to graduate from Clarkson University in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, where he was a member of the Triangle Fraternity. He and Muriel married soon after graduation and settled in Framingham to be closer to Bill’s job at GTE Sylvania where he would work for the next 29 years.

From 1975 to 1978, Bill and his family lived in Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands while working for GTE. Bill finished his career working as a civilian at Hanscom AirForce base until 2006.

An avid tennis player, Bill loved to read books, especially science fiction. He enjoyed the beach, scuba diving, traveling, watching the Boston Red Sox, spending time with his family, Hawaiian shirts, and partaking in the occasional Mai Tai.

Besides his beloved wife Muriel, Bill is survived by his children, Joyce Barsanti & her husband James of Framingham, Debra Stebbins of Framingham, and William W. IV & his companion Maureen Carey of Forest Grove, OR, his granddaughters, Francesca Barsanti, Cali Roi, and Julia Barsanti, and his brothers in law, Philip Terris and Martin Terris. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Gray and her husband Dennis.

Loved ones will privately honor and remember Bill’s life.
