NATICK – Jocelyn Leathem Barrett, 83, of Natick passed away unexpectedly at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital on April 22, 2023.

Jocelyn, a loving mother and grandmother is survived by her son James E. Barrett and his spouse Shelby Gregory, her three grandchildren, Bode, Scarlett and Radian Barrett, her best friend and former spouse James F. Barrett and her beloved niece Jill Forest and her family.

Jocelyn, a graduate of Skidmore College and Simmons University and a LICSW therapist, was a  nationally known, Trainer, Facilitator and expert in the use of EMDR therapy, a specialized modality used in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. Jocelyn’s impact on the lives of her clients cannot be adequately described. As one client, a physician stated, “she saved my life and my marriage; she will always be in our memories”.

Jocelyn was an avid white water kayaker, well known and loved by everyone in the white water paddling community. She was paddling Class 3 rapids at age 82 and was hoping to run a Class 4 river this year.

Jocelyn’s vibrant, joyful smile shines brightly in every picture of her paddling and in the memories of her friends and family.

She was a loving and caring person who brought joy to the lives of every one she touched.

Services will be held Saturday April 29 at The Village church in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
