FRAMINGHAM – Vassiliki “Vickie” (Vassiliadis) Bizanos, 86, of Framingham, passed away on April 11, 2023, at MetroWest Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Vickie was born in Athens, Greece, the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Anastasia (Karampourtzidou) Vassiliadis.

After emigrating to the United States with her husband Constantin (Gus) in 1967, they moved to areas of New Haven and Hartford, Connecticut, then to Quincy, Massachusetts for several years, and ultimately, they settled in their permanent home in Framingham, where she lived for over 46 years. 

Vickie held several career positions and always worked very hard, but being a loving and caring mother was her greatest joy.  

Vickie had an entrepreneurial and intellectual spirit. She held many different roles in her career in which she excelled; including as a real estate professional, account manager at Acumeter Labs, then in her final position as a successful insurance and financial services agent at MetLife.

She attended University in Athens, majoring in French, and later completed a business degree at Northeastern University by night, all while raising two children. Vickie was a lover and expert on all things Greek, including ancient history, mythology, philosophy, classical literature, and politics. Vickie enjoyed teaching others, especially her children and grandchildren, about her Greek heritage. 

She enjoyed many adventures traveling throughout Europe, visiting museums and archaeological ruins and historical sites, first with her husband and later on with her children too. 

Vickie was a dedicated reader, avid gardener, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Of all her accomplishments, Vickie particularly relished her role as Yiayia and described taking care of her grandchildren as “the happiest days of her life.”  She even taught her granddaughters to speak, read and write in Greek.

She is survived by her son, Emmanuel “Manny” Bizanos and his wife, Cheryl of FL, her daughter Natasha Bizanos-Ashe and her husband, Michael, of Framingham, four grandchildren, Catherine, Alexandra, Eric, and Andrew, and her sister, Anna Chatzis of Athens, as well as several nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and in Greece, and many good friends and neighbors.

Vickie was predeceased by her husband Gus and her brother, Timoleon Vassiliadis, and her nephew, Emmanuel Vassiliadis.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough, MA. 

A calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also in the Church.

Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham, MA, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Vickie’s name to in St. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
