FRAMINGHAM – Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers of Framingham celebrates its 2nd annual Maifest, believed to be the first and only of its kind in Massachusetts.

Maifest is a traditional German celebration of the arrival of spring, and the counterpart to the legendary Oktoberfest.

Taking place May 5-7 2023, activities include traditional German food and music, specialty cask tapping, and Maipole wrapping. A Maifest king and queen are selected from the festival attendees.

“Last year’s event was a tremendous success and the first and only known Maifest in the area!” – Sam Hendler, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Owner

2022’s activities brought some serious Oktoberfest energy to Framingham in May. Attendees donned their traditional Lederhosen and Dirndls, while they sipped on the traditional festbeir for the event, Maibock. Live music by traditional Oompah bands entertained guests throughout the weekend, while families enjoyed kids activities such as face painting and cookie decorating on Sunday.

“It is so great to see these German traditions making their way over to the United States. We can’t wait to keep sharing this amazing culture and of course their great lager with our customers” – Jack Hendler, Chief Production Officer and Co-Owner.

In the second year, there will be even more fun including a Maipole wrapping activity for guests each day, kids activities with The Makers Club on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, an Open House on Sunday where guests can see a beer being brewed live, and more!

The Maifest weekend kicks off with a cask tapping by City of Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky on Friday.

This event is free and open to the public, with beer and food available for purchase.
