FRAMINGHAM – The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) completed two days of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training for all members of its staff, management of National Express, the transportation operator for the MWRTA. Also joining the training were staff of The MetroWest Center for Independent Living and members of Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka’s staff.

The training was conducted by Korsi Consulting out of Weston.

A former investment banker turned stand-up comic turned DEI consultant, Tisa Hami is the founder and principal of Korsi Consulting.

She works with clients across industries on their DEI strategies and goals. Her clients have included Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, non-profits, and universities. Her mission is to build inclusive workplaces where all employees belong and can thrive. She was joined by her sister Melody Abedinejad, to facilitate the training.

The two days of training was highlighted by a comedy show, featuring local actors/comedians Amy Tee and Deb Farrah-Parkman. The event was organized by the administrative staff of the MWRTA.

 “As a public transit agency, the workforce and the riders we serve are very diverse and being aware of this is a key component of what we do, everyday”, said Deputy Administrator Eva Willens.

“The biggest take away for me was, “how words and actions can impact and that understanding that can create better awareness and camaraderie for coworkers and our ridership”, said Paula Doucette, Financial Assistant at the MWRTA.
