ASHLAND – Eva E. Billingham passed away peacefully at the age of 100 at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Eva was the daughter of the late William and Eva Towler.

She grew up in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England and came to Ashland in 1946 as the war bride of the late Donald S. Clark, Jr.

While raising her family, she was a member of the Theta Phi of the Ashland Federated Church and assisted in many activities of the Ashland Girl Scouts.

She was later married to the late Russell Lutz.

More recently, Eva was married to Arthur Billingham, with whom she enjoyed retirement in Florida until Arthur passed away in 2005.

At that time she moved back to Ashland. Eva was also predeceased by her sister Elsie Futter of England and her granddaughter Kimberly Pardi of Ashland.

Eva’s talents were many, including an array of self-taught skills. She enjoyed poetry and literature, playing the piano, cooking, sewing, chair caning, and listening to classical music. Eva was an avid enthusiast of African violets, which she propagated and grew. She regularly corresponded with her British classmates throughout her life, and ever an Anglophile, enjoyed a proper cup of tea.

Eva is survived by her four children, Diane Chase of Housatonic, Pamela Cerutti of Northborough, William Clark of Ashland, and Beverly Gould of Thompson CT. Her love extended to nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as the Billingham children and grandchildren.

Private interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
