NATICK – David Merrill “Mitch” Young, 67, a lifelong resident of Natick passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

With sad and lonely hearts, we say goodbye to our dear friend and Cousin David Merrill Young.

David was born on December 10, 1954, to Merrill and Phyllis (Prescott) Young.

David was a lifelong proud Natick resident having attended Natick schools, graduating from Natick High School in 1972.

David had musical inclinations and was a member of the high-school bands.

After high school graduation he went on to attend and graduate from New Hampshire College in 1978, earning a bachelor’s degree in hospitality.

David worked in hotels in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

He also held a position as an office manager for Wellesley Electric until they closed.

David purchased and operated Rennie’s Flower Shoppe in North Andover until 2017 when he retired.

Our beloved friend was a true renaissance man who was so well versed in many fields, art, music, history (especially Revolutionary War history), literature, world events, finance, investing, and especially sports; he was a true enthusiastic devoted fan of all teams Boston.

We that were fortunate enough to know Dave count ourselves as very lucky and blessed but very saddened that his bright light has gone out of our lives. He was a true kind gentleman, always lending an ear to listen to your problems, and he always had a kind word for all and warm hugs for everyone. The world was a better place because he was here. We know he has brought his bright light to the other side and is reunited in peace and love with his family.

David will always be remembered, loved, and truly missed. Peace always!

David is predeceased by his parents, and his brother Philip Young, He is survived by his cousins, Robert, John, Peter, and Lars Prescott, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11 a.m.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow in the Dell Park Cemetery, in Natick.
