FRAMINGHAM – James J. “Jay” Duplessis, 74, a longtime resident of Framingham died Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Hector & Barbara (Teller) Duplessis, and the beloved husband of Karen (Glynn) Duplessis.
Jay was raised in Marlborough and was a 1966 graduate of Marian High School in Framingham. He was a three-sport athlete in football, hockey and baseball, excelling in all of them. It was there that he met the love of his life Karen. He attended Northeastern and Bentley University before serving in the Massachusetts National Guard. He and Karen married in 1972 and settled in Framingham to raise their family.
Jay had an entrepreneurial spirit and turned a hamburger and hot dog stand into a full-service. restaurant known as the Roadhouse Restaurant in Marlborough. He sold in it in 1986 and went on to manage and run various restaurants.
Jay was one of a kind, he never met a stranger. He loved to laugh and joke, and valued conversations and listening to others. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life and relished in watching his sons, and later his grandchildren in their athletics. Jay always said if he didn’t live in Framingham he’d settle in Negril, Jamaica, he loved the lifestyle there.
Besides his wife Karen of almost 51 years, he is survived by his sons, Matthew & his wife Sandy of Framingham, and Luke & his wife Effie of Reading, his grandchildren, Nick, Kimee, Jack, and Emily, his brothers, Bobby, and Stevie, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Maryann Adams, Richard and Jerry.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jay’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Wednesday, March 1 st from 4-8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd. Framingham at 10 o’clock.
Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery.
