FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High will have a delayed start on Monday, February 27.

Students are on vacation this week.

The day before vacation there was a false alarm for an active shooter in J hall in Framingham High.

“After careful consideration of the needs of both students and staff, we have decided to delay the start for students on Monday, February 27th, 2023. A delayed start will allow our staff to arrive on campus to process the events of last Friday as well as adequately prepare for student arrival, knowing that we were unable to do that due to the February break,” wrote Principal Amy Gerade to families today just before 4 p.m.

While we are still working on some details, I want to share the elements we have developed thus far:

  • We will still start the day with B Block. We are working on locations for students who were on Junior/Senior privileges and study halls that will be shared prior to Monday.
  • We ask students who take the bus to arrive at their bus stop at 9:15am with an anticipated arrival to FHS around 10:15am. Please note that buses may be delayed due to traffic and elementary school drop-offs.
  • We ask students who are being dropped off or have parking privileges to arrive at school at 10:15am.
  • Breakfast will be offered to students upon arrival.

“Once students are in classrooms, teachers and other support staff will begin a debrief of the incident. We want to acknowledge that students and staff had a wide array of experiences last Friday and that support will be present to assist members of our community. We would like to specifically call attention to the experiences of students and staff who were located in J and K hallways. We will be providing additional counseling support to those classrooms during B Block,” wrote the Principal.

“As a reminder FHS will be open tomorrow and Friday from 9am to 4pm for students to gather their belongings as well as access free, confidential counseling. Students have also been using this opportunity to enter the building and specific classroom spaces within the building prior to their return on Monday. We welcome students to engage in that process as well,” wrote the Principal.
