FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor has nominated William Phillips to the Keefe Technical School Committee.

The nomination must be approved by the 11-member Framingham City Council within 30 days. If no action, he will join the regional school committee as one of the 8 Framingham seats.

Phillips will replace James Cameau, if approved.

Phillis is the President of the New Beginnings Program, in which he founded in 1985. The program deals with awareness, acceptance, and prevention of drug use (opioids), alcoholism and other dependencies as health issues of grave concern to everyone, with major ramifications to the welfare of the community. The program helps to identify the links between discipline, delinquency, violence and achievement. The emphasis is on young adults, males, and females to make responsible decisions by providing them with current and accurate information and experiences, regarding the effects and dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

Phillips has lived in Framingham for more than 50 years. He has been a truant officer for both Keefe Technical since June of 1995.

In his cover letter he said he has worked in the Keefe Technical School District and other school districts for more than 30 years.

Other members of the Keefe Technical School District who represent Framingham are below. The regional School Committee has members from Framingham (most members), Ashland, Natick, Holliston & Hopkinton.
