FRAMINGHAM – As a coalition, we worked tirelessly to have the proclamation reflect our values regarding reproductive freedom, health, and justice.

To be blindsided with an egregious and harmful comment that is completely at odds with our work, following the dedication of so many to bring this proclamation to a vote, is incredibly disappointing.

We in no way support the thoughts, feelings, or ideas expressed by Mr. Hugo, whatever his intent.

To the contrary, we exist to advocate for reproductive justice, which inherently intersects with the rights of people with disabilities to control their own bodies.

We are disheartened that Mr. Hugo’s despicable comments have taken away from the true intention of this proclamation: to ensure, as people across the country are stripped of their rights to bodily autonomy, that Framingham stands unequivocally committed to reproductive freedom.
