FRAMINGHAM – After 40-plus years in law enforcement, Framingham Police Officer James Green has retired at the age of 67.

Officer Green started with the Framingham Police Department in 1978, after spending time with the Provincetown and the Acton Police Departments.

Officer Green worked with the detective unit and has received numerous commendations and letters of merit, said the department on social media.

He was the longest service officer in the department and had badge #1. That badge was given to Officer Kathy McGrath on Thursday.

“We wish Officer Green all the best in his retirement and thank him for his many years of service to the City of Framingham,” said the Department.
