FRAMINGHAM – The Keefe Technical High School Superintendent of Schools Jon Evans sent out an email to parents yesterday, January 11, in response to a SOURCE report of possible Title IX violations at the regional technical high school based in Framingham. The digital news outlet never received a direct copy from the Superintendent nor heard from any leader at the school after the report was published. Multiple parents forwarded the email to the news outlet. SOURCE wrote the report after hearing from several female athletes at the high school. The email is posted in its entirety below.

“As you may be aware, a recent article was published in a local media outlet that expressed concern about some of our athletic programs, particularly female teams, competing at the junior varsity level.

“In the article, Assistant Principal Ken Collins provided a thoughtful explanation of our decision-making process, with the goal of providing all of our student athletes with the best possible experience. It is unfortunate that the information provided led to a negative headline and portrayal of our programs. It is also of concern that on the news outlet’s Facebook page, it is reported that student athletes reached out to request that this issue be explored. This report is inconsistent with our experience with students and our school community.

“However, I want to take the opportunity to remind all student athletes, and their parents/guardians, that they are welcome to reach out with any questions or concerns they may have about athletics or any other aspect of Keefe Tech. Students and families should feel free to reach out to our school counselors, coaches, athletic director or any member of our leadership team. One of the great strengths of our school community is an open dialog, where every voice is heard. Based on the status of our programs, some of our teams may be able to move up to the varsity level in the near future. These decisions, like those made before, will be made with the goal of providing our student athletes with the best possible experience. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.”
