FRAMINGHAM –  The average gas price in Massachusetts is down 6 cents from last week ($3.43), averaging $3.37 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast, which has a an office in Framingham.

Today’s price is 39 cents lower than a month ago ($3.76), and 1 cent lower than December 27, 2021 ($3.38).

Massachusetts’ average gas price is 27 cents higher than the national average.

“Increasing supply and soft gasoline demand are pushing pump prices lower,” said Mary Maguire, Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast, in a press release.”Gasoline throughout the Northeast is now cheaper than the same time last year, which might have seemed unimaginable when prices peaked at record highs this past summer.”

AAA Northeast’s December 27 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 2 cents lower than last week ($3.12), averaging $3.10 a gallon.

Today’s national average price is 45 cents lower than a month ago ($3.55), and 18 cents lower than this day last year ($3.28).
