SUDBURY – Mary Louise (Babineau) Thompson, a longtime resident of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022. She was 84 years old.
Mary was born on June 15, 1938 Baileyville, Maine to the late Joseph and Gladys (Burns) Babineau. She was the oldest of 6 children. The family spent her early childhood in Woodland, Maine. Later the family moved to the Portland, Maine area where she met her late husband, John.
John and Mary moved to Massachusetts shortly before their son, Joseph, was born. They lived in Framingham, for a number of years, then settled in Sudbury, MA for almost 50 years where they had three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed listening to country music especially the old classics and loved to play bingo and cards. In her downtime she would take on a word search or a jig-saw puzzle. In the summer time she enjoyed visiting with family and friends at Yankeeland Campground in Kennebunk, ME. In her younger years she was part of a local bowling team and later an avid crafter. Creating anything with crafting plastics and decorating straw hats.
Mary is survived by her only son, Joseph Thompson and his wife Karen of Milford, her grandchildren Andrew and his children Lydia and Morgan of Royalston, MA and Carolynne and her husband Dan Agnew and their children Caitlin, Daniel, and Eloise of Summerville, SC, her siblings Ronald Babineau and his wife Iola of Framingham, Lena and her husband Alfred Conti of Framingham, Lillian and her husband Bob Stevens of Ashland, Gloria and her husband Herbert (Red) Fraiser of Grafton, and Alan and his wife Christine Babineau of Dudley, her sister-in-law, Ann Thompson of Portland, Maine and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Gladys (Burns) Babineau, her husband John Thompson, her in-laws Melvin and Dorothy Thompson, her brothers-in-law, Melvin Thompson, Peter Thompson, sister-in-law Dorothy Alves, and her grandson Joseph Thompson Jr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Tuesday, December 27 from 4-8 p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. George Church, 74 School St. Saxonville on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock.
Interment will follow in New Town Cemetery in Sudbury.
