MEDFORD – Monday, December 12, Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and Incoming Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) will join Governor Baker, Lt. Governor Polito, U.S. Senators Warren and Markey, and other public officials and community partners to celebrate the grand opening of the Green Line Extension to Medford/Tufts.  Assistant Speaker Clark has long championed transportation improvements nationwide and across Massachusetts.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Clark helped secure necessary funding to complete the Green Line Extension project. Clark helped secure $9 billion in infrastructure funding to build a greener, more accessible future for Massachusetts through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, said Clark’s office in a press release.

Five new stations in Somerville and Medford are set to open Monday morning. Senator Warren led and spearheaded the first federal appropriation for the GLX in the FY15 Senate Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), which allocated $100 million in funding for GLX in the end of year omnibus bill, said Senator Warren’s office in a press release.

There will be a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m.
