WESTON – The Framingham State women’s baseball team overpowered Regis College by a score of 76-59 in non-conference play Saturday afternoon in Weston.  

Framingham State improves to 8-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Regis College took an early 7-2 lead over the visitors in the first quarter thanks to a layup by Whalen and consecutive shots including a three-pointer by Madi Zancan. The five-point lead would prove to be the Pride’s largest of the game as Framingham State quickly took the lead with an 11-point scoring run kicked off by a three-pointer by Krystalee Fernandez.  
  • The Rams would push their first half lead to twenty after a Flannery O’Connor layup capping a 13-2 run nearing the end of the half. 
  • Framingham State would lead as much as 25 reaching the final 75-59 margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State was paced by the double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds by Katty Haidul. Flannery O’Connor grabbed 14 points and Gwendolyn Carpenter chipped in 14 points with eight assists and two steals. Gabriella Redford added ten points off the bench for the Rams.  
  • Courtney Doherty, Pam Gonzalez and Valerie Whalen combined for 48 of the Pride’s 59 points with Doherty scoring a team-high 19 points including four three-pointers and four steals. Gonzalez was close to a double-double with 15 points, nine rebounds, and three steals while Whalen earned the double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
