Rams Defeat Curry College 50-14

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University women’s basketball team controlled the paint outscoring Curry College 50-14 inside as the Rams defeated the Colonels 74-56 Thursday evening in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium on the campus of Framingham State University.

Framingham State improves to 7-2.

Curry drops to 5-5

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Tied 10-10 midway through the first quarter, the Rams rattled off an 8-0 run fueled by six points from Flannery O’Connor taking an 18-10 lead with just under two to play. The Colonels answered with a 6-2 spurt in the final two minutes cutting the Rams lead to 20-16 after one. 

• The Rams started the second quarter with a 15-3 run taking a 35-19 lead midway through the frame. Curry cut the deficit to 11 with just over three to play, but a Katty Haidul jumper gave the Rams a 37-24 lead at the half. 
• Framingham State started the third quarter outscoring the Colonels 14-2 over the first five minutes taking a 51-26 lead. The Rams maintained a sizeable lead throughout the remainder of the game and led by as many as 33 in the fourth quarter.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• The Rams controlled the paint outscoring Curry 50-14 in the paint including a 32-8 advantage inside in the first half led by 19 first half points from O’Connor and 11 from Haidul. 
• O’Connor picked up a double double in the game for the Rams with a team-high 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Haidul also finished with a double double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. 

• Katherine Haselton finished the game with seven points, while Jenna Tavanese came off the bench to score seven and added five boards. 
• The Colonels were led by 15 points and six rebounds from Kristyanna Remillard, while Kathryn Dunn and Kylie McCarthy chipped in with nine apiece. 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams are back in action Saturday when they travel to Regis at 1 p.m. 

The Colonels are off until January 3rd when they travel to Salve Regina.
