FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High boys varsity basketball team will open its season on the road against Bay State Conference rival Natick High on Tuesday, December 13.

Seventy boys tried out for the the basketball program at Framingham High, said head coach Jason Gosselin.

Thirteen athletes made varsity, and a dozen players will be on a junior varsity and on a freshman team.

Varsity captain for the 2022-23 season are seniors Tate Baer and jack Carney.

“Both Tate and Jack were major contributors to last season’s tournament team and elected captain by their teammates at the conclusion of last season. They’ve embraced their leadership roles and are excited about this season,” said Coach Gosselin. 

There are 6 seniors on the varsity team. Besides the captains, they are: Reece Rakouskas, Mayne Murray, Marcus Villafane, and Tyler Knox.

Baer and Rakouskas are the best returning scorers for the Flyers.

“Both Tate and Reece will look to build upon a fantastic junior seasons which saw them improve each day and each average over 10 points per game,” said Coach Gosselin. “They will play pivotal roles in our teams success this season.”

“Our team is full of excellent individual defenders and defense will need to continue to be our team’s emphasis for us to be successful this season,” said Coach Gosselin.

The first home game is Friday, December 16 against the Tigers of Newton North.
