FRAMINGHAM – Richard Patrick (Dick) Tully of Naples FL passed away peacefully at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston FL on October 13, 2022, following a brief illness. His devoted sister Anne was by his side. He was 82. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Born in Waltham MA to Patrick and Mary (O’Brien) Tully, he was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1958.

Dick was an all-around good athlete favoring golf, and skiing. But it was golf that became his lifetime avocation. He captained the St. Mary’s High School Golf Team and was the yearbook editor for his class.

In his senior year of high school he was awarded the prestigious Francis Ouimet scholarship. It was a four year renewable scholarship given based on service to golf and outstanding academic achievement.

With that scholarship, he attended Merrimack College with aspirations for a career in biochemistry.

Professionally, Dick had a very successful career in real estate as both a broker and agent. During his career he worked in Waltham, several communities on Cape Cod and in Naples Florida where the warm weather lured him for the final decades of his career.

Dick was also a friend of Bill’s for over 45 years and quietly helped many others in their journeys over the decades.

A steady passion throughout his life was always the game of golf. He and his brother Jim won more than one Member Guest Tournament at the New Seabury and Marlborough Country Clubs in Massachusetts.

Dick was also the 2005 Club Champion at the Wilderness Country Club in Naples, FL and won numerous other tournaments throughout his long playing career.

But most importantly, Dick was a devoted son, brother and uncle. He traveled hundreds of hours to sit through endless Graduation Ceremonies, Christenings, First Communions, Confirmations and Weddings.

If there was an important event in a family member’s life, he was always there making it extra special for everyone.

He is survived by his sister Anne Tully of Marlborough, MA; his sister-in-law Carol Tully of Marlborough, MA; nieces Cheryl Tully Stoll and her husband Edwin of Framingham, MA; Christine Gauthier and her husband James of Avon CT; Linda Thompson and her husband Martin of Mansfield, MA; and Marybeth Fagan and her husband Daniel of Ashland, MA. He also leaves behind two great nieces and two great nephews. Dick was predeceased by his parents, his brother James and his ex-wife Tina Deady with whom he remained close friends until her passing.

There will be a Funeral Mass held Saturday November 26 at 11 a.m. St. Matthew Church in Southborough, with a reception to follow.
