FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State men’s basketball team was chosen to finish seventh in the 2022-23 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) preseason poll as selected by the seven coaches from around the conference.
The Rams received 10 points in the poll and finished just one point behind MCLA who was slated in the sixth spot. JD Okafor returns for the Rams this season after averaging 11.5 points per game last season with 114 rebounds, 13 steals and nine blocks. Also returning this season is Jahden Erold who averaged 11.2 points and four rebounds per game.

Westfield State were selected to win the 2022-23 MASCAC Men’s Basketball Championship with 36 points and six first place votes. The Owls went 10-2 last year in the MASCAC as they won a share of the regular season crown and the MASCAC Tournament.
Worcester State grabbed the second spot with 31 points and the final first place vote. The Lancers were 9-3 during the conference clip in 2021-22. Salem State is next in third with 26 points. The Vikings had the other share of the MASCAC Regular Season title last season with a 10-2 mark.
Landing in fourth with 19 points is Fitchburg State. The Falcons had four wins in league play in 2019-20. Up next in fifth is Bridgewater State with 14 points. The Bears had two wins at the end of the MASCAC schedule. Rounding out the field in sixth and seventh were MCLA and Framingham State.
The Rams open up their 2022-23 season on Thursday, November 10th when they travel to Curry College at 6 p.m.
