DANBURY, CONNECTICUT –  The Framingham State University football team was defeated 35-14 by the Wolves of Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tilt at the Westside Athletic Complex. 

Framingham State falls to 3-4 overall and is 2-3 in the MASCAC

Western Conn. is now 4-3 and 3-2 in the MASCAC.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Chad Blszky rushed 28 times for 123 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the Western Connecticut as the Wolves broke a string of nine straight losses to Framingham State, dating back to when the Wolves moved into the MASCAC as an affiliated member in 2013. 
  • Western Connecticut held a slight edge in yards for the game gaining 279 yards of offense to 262 for the Rams. 
  • Terry Smith completed 6-of-20 for the Rams for 51 yards with a touchdown and three picks, while Noah Leonard went 1-for-3 for five yards. Smith rushed for 32 yards on nine carries, while Leonard picked up 37 yards on his nine carries. 
  • Devaun Ford rushed for 69 yards on three carries, while Bookie McBean Jr. Rushed for 51 yards on seven carries.   
  • Manny Lara was the Rams leading receiver with seven catches for 62 yards and a pair of scores. 
  • John Giller completed 8-of-10 for the Wolves for 102 yards and a score, while Zach Soriano made two catches for 49 yards. 
  • The Rams defense received 13 tackles, including 11 solo, from Michael Brooks, while Chase Buono and Dylan DeWolfe finished with eight tackles apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Wolves grabbed a 7-0 lead on a nine-yard Giller touchdown pass just under five minutes into the game. 
  • West Conn would add a touchdown early in the second quarter pushing the lead to 14-0, but the Rams answered with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Lara to cut the deficit to 14-7 at the half. 
  • A pair of touchdowns in the third quarter pushed the Wolves lead to 28-7 and a touchdown in the opening minutes of the fourth extended the lead to 35-7. 
  • The Rams received an 11-yard touchdown pass from Tobias Haire to Lara with just over six to play to cap the scoring in the game.

The Rams are back in action on October 29, when they host Massachusetts Maritime Academy at noon as part of Homecoming & Family Weekend.
